For 136 years, the Gruau Group has developed multi-faceted expertise that enables it to master all the trades necessary for transforming utility vehicles to meet the needs of professionals. Gruau Le Mans brings together these cutting-edge skills. The teams have specialized in projects designed and produced individually, those that meet the most demanding specifications. Mobile offices, medical buses, library buses\u2014all vehicles where each element is developed and manufactured on a one-off basis. Beyond the technical achievement, these transformations are part of the government’s “outreach” approach: combating inequality by bringing public services to areas where they are absent. That is what it means for Gruau to be “UTILY-TERRE PAR NATURE\u00a9”. <\/p>\n\n

The embodiment of a genuine RSS2E commitment<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Long committed to an RSS2E approach embedded in its corporate project, the Gruau Group already contributes to the well-being of the community through its historic activities: ambulances, emergency vehicles for firefighters, TPMR\u2026 The solutions developed by Gruau Le Mans are part of this momentum: making essential services mobile to bring them to areas that do not have access to them, or to populations unable to travel.<\/p>\n\n

Three priority areas structure the \u201cgoing to\u201d approach promoted by public authorities: administrative services, health and culture. Projects built on a relationship of trust<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Every vehicle that leaves the Gruau Le Mans workshops is the answer to a specific need and a set of constraints. The aim here is to make an activity mobile when it was not originally, by offering optimal conditions for professionals so they can do their job despite limited space. Everything starts with the customers\u2019 initial need, which must be defined with the greatest precision. Drawing on solid experience, Gruau Le Mans technical sales teams can quickly sketch an initial profile of the vehicle\u2014such as a medical bus\u2014while also proposing proven solutions. <\/p>\n\n

Next comes the identification of specific needs and, in this area, the teams have never closed the door on an idea. The medical bus can thus become a general practice clinic, a dental practice, a gynaecology clinic\u2026 or any other medical specialty. Around fifteen experts, brought together within a dedicated design office, design the specific elements for each project, ensuring a level of quality and reliability compatible with intensive use over a long period (15 to 20 years). <\/p>\n\n

Workshops where unique expertise comes together<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Meeting ultra-specific needs requires a wide range of cutting-edge skills. This is the strength of Gruau Le Mans, which brings together in one place all the multidisciplinary expertise found within the Group. No fewer than 15 trades may be involved in a one-off vehicle: sewing, upholstery, carpentry, polyester, electrical work, metalwork, fitting-out\u2026 A conversion can require up to 2,500 hours of work (300 hours minimum), as it is closer to a construction job than simple assembly. This distinctive activity gives full meaning to the Gruau Group\u2019s role as a manufacturer-bodybuilder. Despite the complexity of each project and the quality requirements, the Gruau Le Mans site has the capacity to produce around fifty vehicles per year. <\/p>\n\n

Stories that stand the test of time<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Given the bespoke nature of the projects, it is not uncommon for a year to pass between the first contact and delivery of the vehicle. However, leaving the workshop does not mean the end of the story with the customer\u2014quite the opposite. The vehicle is handed over in person by the Gruau Le Mans contact who supported the entire project. They present how it works. <\/p>\n\n

A few months later, customers are contacted again and invited to share their feedback. These field returns are invaluable: they feed the continuous improvement process applied by the engineering teams and help enrich future solutions. <\/p>\n\n

To ensure continuity of the services provided by these vehicles with high societal value, mobile technicians travel across the territory and can respond to emergencies within 48 hours. They also carry out periodic on-site servicing to extend the vehicles\u2019 service life as much as possible. <\/p>\n\n

Bringing services to the most sedentary or most isolated populations is the \u201cgoing to\u201d approach initiated by public authorities. The unique expertise of Gruau Le Mans fits perfectly into this trajectory: it makes professions mobile that were not originally designed to be.
